Movie stars and Hollywood converged on First Baptist Church of Maryville recently when Young Life had their annual fundraising banquet.
The event happened on Sept. 25 with the theme “Hollywood, Meet the Stars.” In addition to a fundraising event, it was a time for old and new families and staff to get together and catch up, Young Life staffer Jessica LaFoy said.
“The fundraising aspect of the evening goes toward the ministry,” said LaFoy. “It’s our annual budget that is needed to make Young Life happen.” Full story »

The 2nd Annual St. Francis Catholic Church Bazaar was held on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Townsend church. The proceeds from this event will benefit both the church and the Blount County Humane Society’s efforts to build a no-kill shelter.
The bazaar had crowds gathered around the White Elephant sale, a lunch cooked on site, a bake sale, raffle, games for children, music by Marty Wade, mountain-style storytelling and a blessing of the animals. Full story »

Foothills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will celebrate their Charter Sunday on Oct. 19. The Blount County congregation has been an outreach of Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (TVUUC) since it began meeting in Maryville in March of 2006.
