</title><link>http://blounttoday.com/news/2008/sep/03/chat-room-jerry-st-clair/?partner=RSS</link><description>Jerry St. Clair, owner of Midland Restaurant, went to school to become a doctor and graduated with a pre-med degree but didn’t get into medical school right away. Since he worked in the restaurant business while in school, he stuck with it while waiting to get into medical school. “I liked the restaurant business, and it got into my blood. I went to work for the guy who owned this place for 10 1/2 years. Then he sold it to my wife and me, and we paid it off in nine years.”

</title><link>http://blounttoday.com/news/2008/sep/03/different-day-work/?partner=RSS</link><description>The 2008 United Way campaign kicked off with a breakfast rally at the Airport Hilton. As soon as the music and cheering stopped, a large group of business volunteers donned their Live United T-shirts instead of their business jackets. Area businesses and community helpers volunteered for the annual United Way Day of Caring.
Many of the business leaders took the day off to do volunteer work at area non-profit agencies as part of the annual Day of Caring.

First, they’ll present a synopsis of the play, followed by the concluding acts. This performance will be indoors, so come to the library to enjoy a Shakespearean production.
Many Maryville-Alcoa residents recall the integration of the schools; for younger residents, the fact of separate schools seems unimaginable and remote.

</title><link>http://blounttoday.com/news/2008/sep/03/curious-cup/?partner=RSS</link><description>A healthy curiosity and a truck with no cup holders has led a Louisville man to build what may be the proverbial “better mousetrap.” Phil Abbott has invented a lid-less cup that he says doesn’t leak or spill, and has no plastic top to pop off just when it’s the most inconvenient.
